The post season continued for prep softball. The 2a sectional semifinals were held with Freeburg coming back to beat Newton 2-1 in eight innings at Gillespie and will play the hosts today for the title. It’s win #30 for Freeburg. At Carterville, Pinckneyville shutout Mt Carmel 6-0
The prep softball sectional finals are today in 1a/2a. Casey Westfield is the site for the 1a finals between the hosts and Windsor/Stew-Stras. Goreville will host Trico.
The 3a regional finals are today. Mt Vernon will host Charleston at 4:30 for that title. In other action, Highland hosts Waterloo, Chatham Glenwood hosts Taylorville, Lincoln plays the hosts at Mt Zion, Marion will play Carbondale in Marion, Triad hosts Jerseyville. Yesterday it was Jerseyville nipped Civic Memorial 4-3 to advance to the Triad finals.
In 4a regional finals at Edwardsville it’s the Lady Tigers and visiting Collinsville.
