They released a statement that read:"The Wayne County School System has been made aware of a student-generated social media video post containing a racial slur and disturbing actions. Law enforcement was immediately contacted and collaborated with school district officials as the incident was being investigated. In keeping with our core beliefs that all people are worthy of respect and that the safety and welfare of students, staff, and the community are paramount, the two individuals responsible for the post will not attend any end-of-year school-sponsored activities. We, as a school system, do not condone the type of behavior that was displayed in the video post."Jesup Police released a statement which said, in part, "We would like to publicly denounce individual and systemic racism in all its forms. We do not tolerate using racial slurs or condone this type of behavior in our organization at all."The university one of the students has committed to has revoked the student's scholarship and admission. Charleston Southern University released a statement on its Facebook page.It reads, "Charleston Southern University Athletics and administration is aware of an incoming freshman student-athlete who shared a social media post with a racial slur. There is no circumstance in which any racist language is acceptable, especially as a representative of our Christian university. We condemn racism—through actions and words—in the strongest possible terms. After a thorough review, CSU Athletics took appropriate steps to revoke the signed student’s athletic scholarship. The individual’s university admission has also been rescinded. At a university founded on the belief that the gospel has the power to transform lives, it’s our mission to see our students, faculty, and staff live in a way reflective of the love of Christ."
