Update, 7:50 p.m. Monday: The man who was a person of interest in the fires was located in Pensacola, Florida, on Sunday and is in the custody of the police, where he is going to get mentally evaluated, Beaubien said.

This is still an ongoing investigation and no further information has been released.

Because the person of interest has not been charged with a crime, Clarksville Now had removed his name from this article.

CLARKSVILLE, TN (CLARKSVILLE NOW) – Two homes were burning early Friday morning in what investigators believe were related arson fires.

The first fire was in the 1600 block of Bevard Road and was called in at 3:54 a.m., according to Clarksville Fire Rescue and Clarksville Police.

The home was a total loss, CFR Assistant Chief Michael Rios told Clarksville Now.

The second was in the 700 block of Lafayette Road and was called in by neighbors at 4:09, just 15 minutes later.

That home was also a total loss.

The homes were searched, and no occupants were found.

Both homes were owned by the same person, and the fires are being investigated as arson by police and fire investigators, Rios said.

Lafayette Road was shut down between Cherry Tree Drive and Cunningham Lane, police said.
