CAMBRIDGE SPRINGS — Pennsylvania State Police troopers said a Waterford man is facing charges including driving under the influence in a crash Thursday afternoon in Venango Township, Crawford County, that killed a Meadville motorcyclist.

The crash was reported shortly after 4:30 p.m. Thursday on Plank Road at the intersection of Irish Road, near Route 99.

According to troopers, a 2012 Dodge Ram 1500 pickup truck driven by a 42-year-old Waterford man was traveling north on Plank Road and was attempting to turn left onto Irish Road as a 2012 Harley-Davidson Sportster driven by a Meadville man was traveling south on Plank Road and was approaching the intersection.

The truck began turning left in front of the motorcycle, and the motorcycle struck the truck head-on, throwing the Meadville man from the motorcycle, according to state police.

The motorcyclist, identified by state police as Steven D. Risjan, 29, was taken to UPMC Hamot and was pronounced dead, according to troopers.

State police said they took the Waterford man into custody on suspicion of DUI. No charges had been filed as of Friday morning.

The crash remained under investigation Friday.
