Lincoln restaurant honors fallen police investigator Mario Herrera

Promises to never forget Officer #1205 while also offering $1,205 in gift cards

LINCOLN, Neb. (KLKN) — Chopsticks Chinese Cuisine is paying respect to fallen Lincoln Police Investigator Mario Herrera.

He was shot in the line of duty back on Aug. 24, 2020, and later died from his wound.

The restaurant posted on Facebook just this week that it will never forget Officer #1205, and it’s helping keep his memory alive throughout our community as well.

Banners of appreciation were printed out and signed, while the restaurant also offered gift cards totaling $1,205.

The Lincoln Police Department responded with a Facebook post of its own saying the support is appreciated and Herrera’s legacy will continue to live on when we refuse to forget.

On Wednesday the teen who killed the investigator, Felipe Vazquez, was sentenced to decades in prison.

He’ll serve at least 71 years behind bars before there’s any chance of parole.
