PEORIA, Ill. — Peoria firefighters were called just after 1 a.m. Friday to a home on N. Hamilton Road, near W. Winnebago Drive.
When crews arrived, smoke was seen coming from the back of the two-story house. Fire was found on the second floor inside a wall.
Fire Battalion Chief Tom Sander said the wall and ceiling were opened up, and the fire was put out in about 20 minutes.
Occupants of the home, two adults and a toddler, were alerted to the fire by smoke detectors and got out safely before firefighters arrived.
Sander said the residents will be displaced while repairs are completed.
A fire investigator determined the cause of the fire was electrical.
No injuries were reported.
Damage was estimated at $55,000.
