Fort Ligonier will host an 18th-century military encampment with artillery firings and living history demonstrations on May 28 and 29.

Community spirit

Greensburg Community Days continues today and Saturday at Lynch Field with live music, vendors, food, carnival games, rides, Greensburg Volunteer Fire Department demonstrations, a car cruise and more fun.

Hours are 6 to 10 p.m. today, with special features including the E.C. Cruisers Car Club car cruise at 6 p.m. and music by Pixelated at 6 p.m. and Jeff Jimerson and Airborne at 8 p.m.

Hours are 2 to 11 p.m. Saturday, with fire department demonstrations from 2 to 6 p.m. Musical lineup includes Full Tylt, 2 p.m.; The Cash Out Band, 5 p.m.; and Andy Davis Band, 8 p.m.

Fireworks are scheduled for 9:30 p.m. Saturday.

Parking is not available at Lynch Field, 520 New Alexandria Road. Shuttles will run from Nicely Elementary School, 55 McLaughlin Drive, and from Pennsylvania Ave­nue, behind the Westmoreland County Courthouse in downtown Greensburg.

Student showcases

Westmoreland Performing Arts student showcase classes will end the sem­ester with two productions this weekend at the Greens­burg Garden & Civic Center, 951 Old Salem Road.

The Tweenz group (ages 8-14) will perform the musical “The Addams Family” at 6 p.m. Friday and Saturday. Based on the Charles Adams comic strip, the television show and the award-winning Broadway musical, the story finds Gomez, Morticia, Uncle Fester, Pugsley and Grandma Addams meeting Wednesday’s new boyfriend and his family.

Tickets are $15, or $10 for ages 18 and younger.

The Teenz group (ages 14-18) will present “Carrie” at 8:30 p.m. Friday and Saturday and 2 p.m. Sunday. Based on the Stephen King novel, movie and off-Broadway show, the “Carrie” is about an awkward teenage girl with telekinetic powers who unleashes chaos when humiliated by her classmates at the high school prom.

Tickets are $20, or $10 for ages 18 and younger.

Musical memories

Take a walk down a musical memory lane with these weekend shows at The Lamp Theatre, 222 Main St., Irwin:

• Home Again, a Tribute to Carole King, 8 p.m. Friday. Deb De Lucca and a band of seasoned musicians journey through King’s expansive repertoire, including hits like “You’ve Got a Friend,” “Jazzman” and “I Feel the Earth Move,” and those she wrote for other artists such as The Shirelles, The Drifters, The Carpenters, The Monkees and Herman’s Hermits. Tickets are $30.

• Tusk: The World’s Number One Tribute to Fleetwood Mac, 8 p.m. Saturday and 6 p.m. Sunday. Five musicians who have played together in various combinations for more than 25 years play note-for-note renditions of hits like “Go Your Own Way,” “Rhiannon,” “Don’t Stop” and others. Tickets are $39.

Military maneuvers

Re-enactors with Seven Years’ War Inc. will present artillery firings and living history demonstrations from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday and Sunday at Fort Ligonier, routes 30 and 711.

The organization’s members focus on the period of the mid-18th century known in Europe as the Seven Years War, but known in the United States as the French and Indian War, 1756-63.

Members of the Prussian Regiment von Itzenplintz will be available to answer questions about the men they portray during the weekend’s activities.

Admission fee includes self-guided tours of the galleries and exhibits in the fort museum, including “Worlds Ablaze,” an exhibit that includes rare artifacts of the Prussian army.

Tickling the ivories

Piano Men: Generations, the father-son team of Terry and Nick Davies, will play the music of Billy Joel and Elton John at 7:30 p.m. Sunday in The Palace Theatre, 21 W. Otterman St., Greensburg.

The duo is joined onstage by a five-piece band and three backup singers for a revue of more than four decades of the greatest hits from the two original rock-and-roll piano men.
