Real Madrid Star Says He'd Give Up His Wife For The Champions League

Real Madrid star Federico Valverde has claimed he would give up his wife to win the Champions League final, although his son is safe from being swapped.

It can't be too often that Real go in to a Champions League final as the underdogs, having won the title more often than any other team, winning on 13 occasions to AC Milan's seven.

However, on Saturday, that's exactly the situation they'll be going into, when they face Liverpool in Paris, with Jurgen Klopp's side still hunting a cup treble.

They'll obviously be desperate to win the competition that they are most famously associated to, and Valverde is so determined to win he'd give up a lot, not his son, but plenty more...

"It's a unique trophy for any player in the world," the Uruguayan told AS.

"I'm willing to sacrifice many things. Except my son...but maybe even my wife."

If anyone has any doubt how much the 23-year-old would sacrifice to win a trophy, just remember his amazing match winning foul in the Supercopa final against Atletico Madrid two years ago.

Valverde joined Los Blancos in 2017 but went out on loan in his first season, so missed out on the win against Liverpool in 2018.

That was the final win in their run of three in-a-row, the first time any team had done that since the European Cup changed to the Champions League.

They have not been back to the final since, but for their opponents it is a second visit to the European showpiece since the loss against Real, via Gareth Bale's two goals.

They defeated Tottenham Hotspur a year later, after winning a penalty inside a minute, but they'll still want revenge on the Spanish giants.

Certainly Mohamed Salah is desperate for revenge over Los Blancos, after getting injured in that final in the first half, after the collision with Sergio Ramos.

The forward admitted ahead of Real's semi final second leg that he wanted them to go through, for that very reason, rattling a couple of their players.

Valverde was one of them, claiming the Egyptian forward had 'disrespected' the 13 times European champions.
