The Flames postseason run ended in overtime Thursday night.
Connor McDavid scored 5:03 into extra time as Edmonton won 5-4 and took the second-round playoff series 4-1.

Highlights, interviews and analysis from Game 5

Andrew Mangiapane, Mikael Backlund, Johnny Gaudreau and Calle Jarnkrok scored for the Flames, while Jacob Markstrom made 30 saves.
With 5:57 left in the third period, Backlund drove hard down the right wing and underneath Darnell Nurse and snapped a shot that beat Smith under his arm and was headed for the cage but went off Blake Coleman's skate right at the goal-line and into the net, the Flames forward tied up with Cody Ceci as they both crashed through the crease.
It was called a goal but after review, the officials reversed it saying there was a distinct kicking motion.
The Flames led 1-0 after the first period and went up 2-0 in the second period before the flood gates opened in the game.
The teams combined for seven goals in the middle stanza, including four in an NHL playoff record 1:11.
Mangiapane brought the C of Red to its feet at 10:13, scoring his third of the postseason to open the scoring.
Coleman took a pass from Backlund and feed a pass fromn the far corner through the slot that Mangiapane one-timed from one knee past Smith.
The shots were 6-5 Oilers after 20 minutes but the scoring chances favoured the Flames by a 7-3 margin.

Markstrom made a huge stop on Zach Hyman, who got a chance all alone on the doorstep early in the second period.
Backlund then doubled the lead at 5:41 of the middle stanza, getting his stick open in the slot as he battled for position with former Flame Brett Kulak, deflecting a pass/shot from Michael Stone into the Oilers net, with Coleman getting the other helper.

Then it was Markstrom making another stellar stop, coming across to kick out a backhand attempt by Jesse Puljujarvi on a Oilers 2-on-1.
Edmonton then struck twice in just over a two-minute span to knot things up, Darnell Nurse pinched in from the point to step into a pass from Leon Draisaitl at 7:40 to get the visitors on the board, then Puljujarvi swept in the rebound of a Markstrom save on Hyman at 9:56.
Then came four goals in 71 seconds.
Hyman then put the Oilers ahead at 14:57 with a powerplay goal that bounced in off him but just a scant 15 seconds later, Gaudreau got the puck in his office behind the net, before skating and firing the puck five-hole under Smith's pads.

Jarnkrok scored his first as a Flame 16 seconds after that with a shortside wrister, but the Oilers responded 40 ticks after when Evan Bouchard's point shot deflected and beat Markstrom.
