The 2022 Central New York concert season is officially underway at the St. Joseph’s Health Amphitheater at Lakeview.
County star, Tim McGraw leads off an action-packed summer at the amphitheater, which is expected to host almost two dozen concerts this summer.
Tonight's top priority was security, dozens of Onondaga County Sheriff's Deputies were scattered around the area, along with security guards who were seen walking up and down the tailgate, which featured thousands of people who seemed to be having a great time on a breezy Thursday night.
"It makes you feel really secure and you're glad that you got people watching out for you, it makes you enjoy the concert a little more, said Lori Defeo, who traveled from Buffalo to watch the first concert of the season at the amphitheater.
Tailgaters who spoke to CNY Central said Thursday night was a safe night, the clear bag policy and extra metal detectors provided more security for those who felt they needed it.
"I'm just happy to know that nothing bad is going to happen here and that we are all going to be safe and I can worry about a stress-free night," Maggie Ball said who attended the McGraw concert with her two friends.
Earlier this week Onondaga County Executive, Ryan McMahon said people who plan to attend the amphitheater this season can expect to see an increase in security.
"We have put forward really robust security details, certainly to get into the venue. Clear bags, metal detectors, we have infrastructure that does not allow you to just get into this venue randomly. Certainly, we are not going to give full security details but there is for sure security here and I'm comfortable with the levels of it," McMahon said.
