Overcoming heartache. Beloved musician Brian Murray's wife shared her story only with WDSU.Murray was 60-years-old when he was shot and killed back in January in the Little Woods area. This week, the man accused of killing him was indicted for his murder. Police said Edmond Ramee Senior shot and killed Murray. Murray the victim-is the grandfather of Ramee's 1-year-old son. "All around everyone loses. There are no winners in this. Everyone. I lost my husband. His children lost their father. Edmond's family lost him," said Renetta Murray.Murray said it is still too hard to talk about the night her husband was killed. She said, "To hear that indictment. It gave me some peace. Somewhat. I am halfway up the road to recovery."The musician and his wife would often play at clubs. Renetta on the mic as a singer, Brian on the trumpet. In his spare time between performing and working in the Jefferson Parish School System, Murray gave away free music instruments to at-risk teens throughout the city through the Jerome Murray Foundation. "It is my goal to make sure his legacy lives on," Murray said.She recently started the Brian E. Murray Senior Music Foundation, in an effort to continue giving free instruments to teens who need them most. "This foundation will not only focus on giving children instruments, but we will offer scholarships starting next school year. Four scholarships to students who will major in music," Murray said.Murray said it is what her husband would have wanted. She also said she forgives the man who took his life. "Forgiveness is key to healing. I pray for him and his family. Because as I stated before, everyone loses in this," Murray said.DA Jason Williams tells said Ramee will be arraigned on June 1.
