New Orleans Saints quarterback Jameis Winston had the long-awaited opportunity to share the field with rookie wide receiver Chris Olave at the team’s OTAs this week. Overall, Winston is quite a fan of what he has seen so far from the former Ohio State standout.

“Smooth as the other side of the pillow,” Winston said on Thursday. “Just really smooth. He can get in and out of breaks very well. Electric, and smart.

“He's a guy that's always asking questions. He's a guy that wants to know how do you want it, and I really respect that.”

Winston took full advantage of the past few days to build chemistry with the rookie wideout.

Winston ended up featuring in all three of the team’s scheduled OTAs this week. The veteran quarterback is just coming off of the torn ACL injury suffered during the 2021 regular season, and as of late, he has continued to make stark progress in his rehab. He was cleared for running activities earlier in the year, and he has also been throwing the football as well.

For Olave, he joins a Saints receiving corps that is not only expected to see Michael Thomas make his return to action in the 2022 campaign but will also have veteran slot receiver Jarvis Landry, who signed a free agent deal with the team earlier this month.

For a player who shined as a deep target threat for C.J. Stroud at Ohio State last season, Olave may end up having plenty of opportunities to open up the passing game for Winston later this year.
