There are a ton of insane records in every sport. So much so, that a lot of them rarely gain any attention at all. One NBA Finals record is in jeopardy right now, as a Golden State Warriors victory over the Dallas Mavericks ends a crazy 75-year long record.

According to Deadspin, every single NBA Finals in the history of the league has had at least one former New York Knick involved with a team contending for a title. Frank Ntilikina is the loan former Knicks player who remains in the hunt for a championship. Considering he plays for the Mavs and Dallas is one loss away from elimination, this 75-year-old record can be broken on Thursday night.

Last year, there was a weird record that was broken, as there were 37, “consecutive NBA Finals between 1984 and 2020 (that) saw at least one teammate of Shaquille O'Neal's on one of the competing rosters,” per Deadspin. Maybe this is a sign the Mavs can bounce back and win the series to keep their title hopes alive?

Realistically, that's going to be difficult to do. The Warriors have been elite throughout this playoff run and the Mavs have struggled late in games in this series. Stephen Curry has been lights out, as he's proven to be one of the league's best players in recent history. Dallas is going to have to get hot quickly if they hope to overcome the odds and head to the NBA Finals.
