Teams at Hill Airforce Base are getting ready for the first air and space show in 4 years. The massive event draws hundreds of thousands to the state with an expected economic impact of millions.

The community’s chance to see "Warriors Over the Wasatch Air and Space Show" will be June 25-26. The event brings two jam-packed days filled with flying and more than a dozen acts.

Because it’s been so long since the last show, teams say it’s going to be bigger and better than ever before.

Kevin Ireland is the executive director of the Utah Airshow Foundation. He tells 2News it's the largest event in the state.

"It is gigantic, what we're bringing in, and people are going to be absolutely thrilled. We're expecting anywhere from 550 to 650,000 people over a two-day period,” said Ireland, who said teams have been prepping since 2018 for the event.

The two-day event will also highlight STEM City and other attractions. Information released from organizers explains that the show will feature the U.S. Air Force Thunderbirds alongside more than a dozen world-class acts, including Hill’s very own F-35A Lightning II Demonstration Team.

Additionally, aircraft will be on display and open to the public, including helicopters, fighters, bombers, large cargo transports, and refuelers.

“You’ll see all types of aircraft, everything from World War II to Vietnam-era aircraft, and our 5th generation fighter aircraft,” explained Lt. Col. Joseph Michaels, who is also helping to coordinate efforts for the event.

With upwards of half million people expected, event organizers are urging spectators to use public transit to and from. They say the returning show is a great recruitment opportunity for the base.

The two-day event is free and open to all. For more information on the air and space show, go to hill.af.mil/Warriors-Over-The-Wasatch.
