IREDELL COUNTY, N.C. — An EF-2 tornado touched down Thursday night in Iredell County, the National Weather Service confirmed Friday. Another tornado was confirmed in Cleveland County. A brief EF-0 with 65 mph was reported southeast of Lattimore.

The tornado in Iredell County packed winds as high as 115 mph and traveled six miles from around Love Valley to western Union Grove.
The tornado reached Bruce Farm Road and caused damage to the roof of a mobile home and a barn, as well as tree damage.
The tornado that was 150 yards wide touched town near Tuckers Grove Road at about 7 p.m. and moved northeast, snapping and uprooting trees.
A minor injury was reported.
The tornado reached Friendship Road, which caused extensive tree damage along with snapped tree trunks.
The tornado then moved northeast, ripping apart more trees until reached Indian Hill Road, where it also damaged the roof of a building. The tornado lifted off the ground after that.
This is the county’s third EF2 tornado since records have been kept in 1950.
On Friday, Chopper 9 flew over some of the damage where roofs were blown off structures and several trees were downed.

Iredell County officials said Thursday night that four homes, a church and its fellowship hall had been damaged.
Iredell-Statesville Schools operated on a one-hour delay on Friday due to the damage throughout the county, officials said.

The delay allowed crews to assess any damage or obstacles impacting bus routes.
The EF-0 tornado in Cleveland County went about one-quarter mile and was 25 yards wide. A shed was damaged, as well as some trees. The tornado lifted off before getting to Artee Road.
