Popular Iowa pizzeria closing after 10 years in business
A popular pizza joint is throwing in the towel Thursday, 10 years to the day since they opened.
Zipp's Pizzeria announced they were closing three weeks ago and said they have been slammed ever since — Wednesday night set a record for pizzas served: 460.
But owners Jim and Tammy Zimmerline said help is hard to find.
"You can come up with a hundred million variables about all the reasons you can't find help and you can make all the excuses you want, but just flat out don't have enough help," Jim Zimmerline said.
And while Jim will tell you himself, 10 years is enough, he's not finished yet. A 28-foot food trailer is on the way — the Zimmerlines plan to haul it all across the state.
But the man who said he could talk the ears off a dead tree said one thing just won't be the same.
"We've got some great people that I'm really going to feel bad for," Jim Zimmerline said as his eyes watered and his voice cracked. "We got a lot of those people and it's going to be hard because we'll miss them."
