Four Greenville Chamber of Commerce members were hospitalized after a head-on collision.
Chamber member Kimber Stone is now out of the hospital, the last of the four members to come home.
She got an unexpected surprise as she left the hospital.
Family and friends of Stone lined the streets, waiving and cheering her on as she left the hospital, finally heading home after a serious accident.
Chamber of Commerce President Trent McGee said they’ve been waiting for this moment for almost a month now.
McGee said the support from the community got them to this moment.
“Her family’s gone through so much, so today, being able to welcome her home and have members of the community, the business community come out and just, uh welcome her home, and this is going to be a surprise for her, means so much to us because the community has given so much support and love, just throwing it our way,” McGee said.
He said while their accident was tragic, he believes his team now has a greater purpose in life.
“I think for us now, and I hope it’s okay to speak on behalf of my staff and saying that I think now, we want to certainly be able to give back and to use our experience to help others recover, to be able to support them, whether it be financially or just to be someone to be able to talk to because situations like this are traumatic and can last a long time,” McGee said.
As for any events postponed in light of this accident, McGee said the process is going to be a slow one.
But, he’s confident, things will come together soon enough.
“We’re slowly putting the pieces back together, and um, we did have to postpone some events. I hate to use the word cancel because we had to postpone them, we’re going to reschedule most of everything we had on the calendar for May and in June and really get rolling again, I think come August,” McGee said.
McGee said he hopes to have majority of their staff back in this office by this coming fall, and to be able to execute those events to the best of their ability.
