Small plane crashes in Gloucester field

GLOUCESTER, Va. (WAVY) —  A small plane crashed in a Gloucester field on Thursday afternoon.

First responders with Abingdon Volunteer Fire and Rescue said the plane crashed in a field near the 3500 block of Providence Road. The call reporting the crash came in around 5:20 p.m.

There were two people in the plane, an Aero Aventura II, but no one was injured, state police said.

There was damage to the landing gear due to the emergency landing. The cause of the incident hasn’t been released.
