Detroit man arrested for using Ohio woman's Chick-fil-A app to order $211 worth of food

TROY, Mich. (WWJ) -- A young Detroit man is in trouble with the law after using an Ohio woman's app and credit card to order more than $200 worth of food from Chick-fil-A, according to police.

Troy Police began investigation the evening of May 17 when a call came in from from the Chick-fil-A inside the Somerset Collection mall about an alleged fraudulent purchase.

Employees said they got a call from a woman in Ohio who said someone had somehow gained access to her account in the Chick-fil-A app, and had used her credit card to place an order totaling $211 from the Somerset restaurant.

Officers identified the 18-year-old suspect when he picked up order.

When questioned by officers, police said the man admitted to placing the order from his phone.

The suspect was arrested and taken to Troy Police Lock-up to await an arraignment on a felony charge of Financial Transaction Device – Stealing/Retaining without Consent. The charge carries a maximum possible penalty of up to 4 years in prison.

The man's name was not immediately released.
