Injury wreck involving semi blocks southbound lanes of Highway 160 in Nixa

An accident reported at 1:12 p.m. Thursday on Highway 160 in Nixa blocked the southbound lanes.

An injury wreck involving a semi truck and a small passenger car blocked southbound lanes on Highway 160 in north Nixa.

Motorists traveling to Nixa from Springfield (where 160 is Campbell Avenue) were encouraged to find an alternate route until the investigation clears.

Drew Douglas, public information officer for the city of Nixa, said the wreck was reported at 1:13 p.m. Thursday.

He said the Equipment Share semi truck crashed into the passenger side of a compact blue sedan.

One person was taken to the hospital with serious injuries.

The accident was located near the intersection of Highway 160 and Tracker Road. The first responders included police, fire and ambulance.

Motorists attempting to drive south through Nixa on Highway 160 were asked to take Highway CC to Main Street and to Aldersgate to return to get back on 160.
