EastEnders spoilers follow.

EastEnders' Stacey Slater will be left injured in tonight's episode (May 26), following an unsettling incident with her mum Jean.

Jean (Gillian Wright) has recently returned from hospital, despite the fact that she's clearly still very unwell.

With Jean refusing to accept any care from Stacey (Lacey Turner), the story has seen 11-year old Lily forced to step in instead.

Jean has made it clear that she will only cooperate if Lily is looking after her, an arrangement which has sparked concern from their relative Kat.

Kat has tried to warn Stacey that this isn't really sustainable or acceptable, but the issue still remains in tonight's tense scenes.

Stacey and Kat are also unaware that Lily is secretly taking her grandmother's medication, after Jean suggested to her that she could be bipolar as well.

Stacey attempts to be firm with Jean in tonight's episode, insisting that Lily will not be taking on these responsibilities anymore.

Unfortunately, as the situation intensifies, Stacey is left injured following an altercation with Jean, paving the way for another shocking development in future episodes.

Spoilers for next week have already revealed that Stacey is injured by the time Monday's episode arrives, sparking concern from both Kat and her new love interest Kheerat.

Although Stacey tries to dismiss the worry over her wound, she is eventually rushed to hospital after contracting sepsis.

As she's treated by the doctors at the hospital, Stacey is keen to keep what happened back at home under wraps, worried about the possible repercussions for Jean.

Kheerat, on the other hand, believes they should know and informs them of what Jean did, much to Stacey's fury.

EastEnders airs tonight (May 26) at 7.30pm on BBC One.
