DETROIT (WWJ) – An elderly Detroit man is facing charges for allegedly telling a Macomb County judge he was going to come to his house and kill him.

Marion Williams Richardson, 75, is accused of calling the 41-A District Court in Shelby Township and threatening to kill Judge Douglas Shepherd at his home, according to the Department of Attorney General.

Richardson has been charged with one count of communicating a false threat of terrorism – a 20-year felony – and one count of the malicious use of a telecommunications service, which is a six-month misdemeanor.

Officials have not said what prompted Richardson to allegedly make the threats.

Attorney General Dana Nessel said she refuses to disregard threats made against elected officials and their families.

“Threatening the safety of a member of the bench is inexcusable and I will not hesitate to use the resources of my office to prosecute such crimes,” Nessel said, per a press release.

Richardson is scheduled to be arraigned Friday morning.
