Wayne County student arrested after making a threat

State Police say administrators alerted them to a disturbing social media post
A student at Gananda High School in Wayne County is charged with making a terroristic threat. State Police say the student posted a photo of him with what appears to be an assault weapon.

Gananda, N.Y. (WBEN) - New York State Police has arrested a high school student after troopers say the student made a disturbing social media post.

Troopers say the 17-year-old Gananda High School student posed with what appeared to be an assault weapon, which caused concerns to district officials who immediately contacted law enforcement.

Troopers, along with the Wayne County Sheriff’s Department, responded to the Gananda School and met with school officials and the Macedon Police Department.

The student was taken into custody off school grounds and was interviewed in the presence of a parent.

The student was charged with Making a Terroristic Threat, a Class "D" felony.

He was arraigned Wednesday night and is scheduled to appear in court on Friday.

State Police acknowledge the fast action of the Gananda School Superintendent, in notifying law enforcement immediately to ensure a speedy resolution to this matter.

State Police say this was an isolated incident.
