Three more Georgia football kickoff times, TV assignments set for 2022 season

Georgia’s SEC football opener this season as well as its first two home games now have kickoff times and its TV assignment.

The Bulldogs conference opener at South Carolina on Sept. 17 is set for a 12 p.m. kickoff and will be shown on ESPN. It will mark the return to Columbia for Georgia co-defensive coordinator Will Muschamp who coached the Gamecocks from 2016-2020.

Georgia’s first game in Sanford Stadium this season on Sept. 10 against FCS Samford has a kickoff of 4 p.m. and will be shown on the SEC Network. The Sept. 24 home game against Kent State also was announced as a 12 p.m. kickoff on ESPN+.and SEC Network + digital services.

That now makes five Georgia games that have had kickoff times announced.

The season opener on Sept. 3 against Oregon in the Chick-Fil-A Kickoff Game already was announced as a 3:30 p.m. kickoff on ABC. Georgia-Florida in Jacksonville on Oct. 29 will be shown on CBS at 3:30 p.m.

South Carolina went 7-6 overall and 3-5 in the SEC last year in the first season under coach Shane Beamer. Samford is coming off a 4-7 season including a 70-52 loss at Florida.
