Colin Kaepernick participated in a workout with the Las Vegas Raiders on Wednesday. The workout is undoubtedly the largest stride Kaepernick has made in returning to the NFL.

But how did it go? Is Kaepernick the newest face of the franchise, and is Derek Carr's position as the Raiders starting quarterback still intact?

For insight on the early NFL futures odds for the 2022 season, listen below:

According to NFL insider Ian Rapoport, things seemed to go well. He tweeted Thursday afternoon that the quarterback “impressed” the Raiders and that “the door is open.”

In other words, there's a good chance that Kaepernick could be the newest quarterback of the Raiders, but he won't be the starter. Carr just signed a three-year, $121.5 million contract with Las Vegas, and he isn't going anywhere. Kaepernick could, however, be a strong candidate for the Raiders' second-string position.

Some were skeptical of Kaepernick and his ability to play in the NFL since he hasn't been with a team since 2016. He's had suitors in the past, including the Seattle Seahawks in 2017. And, in 2019, seven representatives from teams around the league attended his public throwing session in Atlanta.

Now, Kaepernick's hopes of returning to the NFL could be a reality by the time the 2022-23 season begins. It sounds like the free agent was pretty impressive on Wednesday.

More information regarding the quarterback situation in Las Vegas will come out as the offseason goes on.
