SALT LAKE CITY — A homeless woman who police say set fire to an abandoned apartment building already scheduled to be demolished because she was mad has been arrested.

Stephanie Nicole Hurst, 30, was booked into the Salt Lake County Jail for investigation of arson.

Emergency crews responded Wednesday afternoon to a fire near 250 West 300 South at an old apartment complex. Police found Hurst near the fire, who then told officers "she was mad at the individuals inside the building so she started the fire," according to a police affidavit.

Several people were just outside the abandoned building when the fire started. No injuries were reported.

"The fire she started ended up burning down the building to the point of collapse," police wrote in their affidavit. "The building that was burnt down was an abandoned building that Hurst took up residence in. Hurst is homeless and takes up residence anywhere she can."
