Dylan Larkin switches agents and his old one isn't too happy

It's a sure sign that Dylan Larkin of the Detroit Red Wings is looking for a big payday. With one season left to go on his current deal, Larkin has made the sudden decision to change agents, going with heavyweight CCA Sports and representative Pat Brisson (along with Matt Williams). Brisson's active contracts in the NHL currently represent over $1.1 billion in money. It's not necessarily a surprise that Larkin would switch to this agency, but his former one says it was 'blindsided' by the decision.

"From a relationship standpoint, Dylan Larkin worked primarily with my business partner, Joe Oliver," said Kurt Overhardt, CEO of KO Sports. "Throughout the past 11 years, Joe has thoughtfully guided Dylan through countless matters both on and off the ice. There was never a single issue raised between Dylan and Joe for the entirety of their professional relationship and Joe was completely blindsided by this decision. For the past several months, Joe had been working directly with Dylan in preparation to negotiate his contract extension with the Detroit Red Wings."

"As with all of our clients, our work on behalf of Dylan was at the highest standard in all situations. We are very disappointed in his decision and the timing," added Overhardt.

Larkin has one season left on a contract that carries a cap hit of $6.1 million. When it expires, he is an unrestricted free agent and appears to be intent on getting every last penny he feels he deserves.

Larkin had 31 goals and 69 points in 71 games last season. Brisson represents some big name NHLers such as John Tavares, Patrick Kane, Jonathan Toews, Anze Kopitar, Sidney Crosby, Claude Giroux, and the list goes on.
