Hollywood Mourns Ray Liotta: Lorraine Bracco, James Caan And More Share Tributes

Hollywood is mourning the loss of Ray Liotta, who died Thursday in his sleep in the Dominican Republic, where he was filming Dangerous Waters. Liotta was 67. After the news of his death broke earlier today, tributes began to pour in on social media for the late Goodfellas star, who enjoyed a decades-long career working with some of the biggest names in film and television.

Lorraine Bracco, who starred alongside Liotta in Goodfellas, posted a photo of herself and her costar to Twitter Thursday, where she wrote, “I am utterly shattered to hear this terrible news about my Ray. I can be anywhere in the world & people will come up & tell me their favorite movie is Goodfellas. Then they always ask what was the best part of making that movie. My response has always been the same…Ray Liotta.”

Another actor who worked with Liotta, Seth Rogen also shared his experience with the star. Rogen and Liotta appeared together in the 2009 comedy Observe and Report. Rogen shared on Twitter, “I can’t believe Ray Liotta has passed away. He was such a lovely, talented and hilarious person. Working with him was one of the great joys of my career and we made some of my favorite scenes I ever got to be in.”

He added, “A true legend of immense skill and grace.”

James Caan kept his tribute to Liotta short, simply writing, “Not Ray 💔,” while Jamie Lee Curtis shared Twitter: “Ray Liotta has died. His work as an actor showed his complexity as a human being. A gentle man. So sad to hear.”

Viola Davis also shared her love for the late actor, retweeting a report of his death and writing, “RIP Ray Liotta!! Loved your work ❤️.”

The Many Saints of Newark star Alessandro Nivola, who worked with Liotta on The Sopranos prequel film, recounted his time with the actor in a heartfelt Twitter post. Alongside a still of their two characters from Many Saints, he wrote, “RIP Ray Liotta. I feel so lucky to have squared off against this legend in one of his final roles. The scenes we did together were among the all time highlights of my acting career. He was dangerous, unpredictable, hilarious, and generous with his praise for other actors.Too soon.”

Rosanna Arquette also remember Liotta on Twitter, where she wrote, “I’m really sad to hear that Ray Liotta has passed away. He was an friend back in the day and it’s very sad. We had a lot of laughs Rest In Peace My friend.”
