Revisiting the Fosse Posse preseason predictions

We certainly got 2 teams right

As is tradition, the end of the season means it’s time to revisit our Fosse Posse preseason predictions.

This year we actually did ok (if you ignore everything about Leicester City).

Who will win the Premier League?

Good teams put away the easy chances. Michael, Jake, Helen, Tanner and I all said Manchester City and they (just) got us there.

Tram liked Manchester United, so that balances all the right answers out by himself.

Who will be relegated?

Normally our weak spot. Everyone (except Matt, more on that later) got one right, Michael, Anurahda and Tram got two, while Helen nailed all three.

I want to say we did great, but it’s as much a comment on how terrible Norwich and Watford were.

A special shoutout to Matt. He might not have had the highest finisher we picked (Brighton) but his teams managed an impressive 12th place on average, and Wolves were pushing for Europe until very late on.

Biggest surprise club?

Look, there’s an argument that Norwich were surprisingly bad, but I’ve checked with Jake an that’s not at all what he meant.

Not unhappy with my Brighton pick, but credit to Tram, whose West Ham almost pipped United to the UEL.

Where will Leicester finish?

Moving on.

Who will be Leicester’s breakout star?

Daka broke out, albeit just for one game. Barnes also burned bright but inconsistently. Daniel Amartey was surprisingly good and Luke Thomas was helpful to have in a tight spot for defensive injuries.

This is all a preamble to the fact that Michael, Helen and Anuradha could not have been more right about Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall.

Tanner could have been more right about Boubakary Soumaré.

Who will be Leicester’s Player of the Year?

Swing and a miss. None of the these guys even had particularly good years, while James Maddison was the easy pick.

Will Leicester win a trophy (other than the widely acclaimed Community Shield)?

Many of us thought we would. Those who didn’t thought we would be focussing too much on the league, which might have been even more wrong.

Who logs more minutes: record-breaking signing Jack Grealish or Southampton cast-off Ryan Bertrand?

Hands up if you remembered that Ryan Bertrand still plays for us?
