The Rangers are gearing up for a pivotal game five in Raleigh against the Hurricanes on Thursday night, with New York in position to claim a third straight game and take a 3-2 series lead after losing the first two on the road.

The stakes haven’t been higher, with the Blueshirts just two wins away from the Eastern Conference Finals. But if they are to win this series, they will have to take at least one game at PNC Arena, where no visiting team has won yet this playoff.

“We’re playing against a team that hasn’t lost a playoff game at home this year,” Boomer said during Thursday’s show, setting the stage for a big hockey night.

After losing two straight, Boomer senses the Hurricanes will come out energized and on the attack back on home ice in the early stages of game five, and the Rangers will have to be disciplined and ready to counter punch.

Boomer is pumped, and knows the Rangers will be fired up, but they will have to stay level like they were in game four.

“It’s going to be an onslaught for the first 10 minutes, and our guys need to withstand that and keep their poise, that controlled rage we saw in game four is what I want to see again,” Boomer said. “Stay out of the box and don’t do anything stupid. Play under control with a determination.”
