LOS ANGELES (KNX) – Actor Kevin Spacey was charged with four counts of sexual assault in the United Kingdom, according to prosecution agency, Crown Prosecution Service (CPS).
Spacey was also charged with one count of “causing a person to engage in penetrative sexual activity without consent.”
“The CPS has authorized criminal charges against Kevin Spacey, 62, for four counts of sexual assault against three men,” Rosemary Ainslie, the head of the CPS Special Crime, said, adding that the criminal proceedings against the actor “are active and that he has the right to a fair trial."
According to the Daily Mail, the “American Beauty” and “House of Cards” actor was interviewed by Metropolitan Police's Complex Case Team in America back in 2019 regarding allegations made against him that occurred between 1996 and 2013.
Spacey served as artistic director for the Old Vic theatre from 2004 to 2015. In 2017, the BBC reported that 20 individual allegations were made against the actor, with 16 of them being former male staffers.
Spacey has been fighting multiple allegations of misconduct and sexual assaults since 2017, when actor Anthony Rapp told Buzzfeed News that Spacey made sexual advances towards a then 14-year-old Rapp in 1986.
