Police: Trespasser assaulted, killed in York
Police in York say an alleged trespasser was fatally assaulted by a group of people.
UPDATE: The coroner has identified the victim as Zachary Young, 35.
Officers were called around 10:30 p.m. Wednesday to the 200 block of West Jackson Street for a suspicious male trespassing onto a known property.
A witness confronted the man, who fled.
Police said the witness then alerted a group of others to stop the man, and they assaulted him before taking off.
"These actors chased him down, tackled him. It wasn't a random act," Det. Sgt. Kyle Hower said.
Young later died at a hospital.
Police are hoping to find witnesses and video of the incident.
"We want people to come forward that have seen this. We know there's people and residents in the area that probably witnessed the assault," Hower said.
