Radio Island beach will reopen in time for Memorial Day weekend vistors

RADIO ISLAND, Carteret County —
An eastern North Carolina sound side beach will reopen in time for Memorial Day weekend.

Carteret County Government officials said Radio Island beach access will begin again on Friday. Gates will open to the public at 8 a.m.
In March, the beach was temporarily closed for visitor use for dredging maintenance of East Taylors Creek by T. D. Eure Marine Construction.
The work involved reusing over 35,000 cubic yards of material dredged from East Taylors Creek for placement on about 2,775 linear feet of shoreline along the southeast side of Radio Island.
