A Greenville man has been captured in Mississippi after his wife was first reported missing and then deemed murdered.
On Tuesday, Greenville Police were contacted by concerned coworkers of Tavara Guttierrez, 44, after she failed to report to work for several days.
Investigators said she was found dead in her condo by officers who were conducting a welfare check.
Detectives quickly developed Guttierrez' husband, Lawrence Guttierrez,51, as the suspect and warrants were obtained for his arrest the same day.
They learned that Guttierez may be on the way to his home state of Mississippi, and at about 2:00 a.m. on Thursday, he was located by officers of the Biloxi Police Department and taken into custody without incident.
Guttierrez is currently in a Mississippi jail awaiting extradition back to Pitt County. He has been charged with his wife's murder.
