A player arrested after her team-mate was attacked by masked men with IRON BARS, infidelity claims, manager suspended - and the title's sliding away! Inside PSG Women's crazy scandalous season

A tumultuous season for Paris Saint-Germain Women took another twist earlier this week as manager Didier Olle-Nicolle was suspended following allegations of 'inappropriate behaviour'.

In a statement, the club said that players were exposed to events that, 'if proven', would be 'incompatible' with PSG's 'sporting and human values'. 

Meetings with players were held after a complaint was made public and Olle-Nicolle was subsequently suspended, pending further investigation.

Details of the alleged incident were then reported in L'Equipe, with the French paper claiming Olle-Nicolle 'put a hand on the buttocks of one of his players', with the coach later apologising to the group for his 'clumsiness'. 

The news comes at the worst possible time, with PSG facing a must-win match against Lyon on Sunday. They are five points behind the league leaders with two games left to play. 

PSG won the league to end Lyon's 14-year dominance at the top of Division 1 Feminine last season - but their defence of their title has been hampered by scandals. 

Back in November, midfielder Kheira Hamraoui was attacked and beaten by two masked men. 

Club and international team-mate Aminata Diallo, who was driving them home from a team meal, was originally arrested on suspicion of organising the attack, with the two players rivals for the same position. Diallo was held for 35 hours of questioning but was later released without charge.

It then emerged that the SIM card in Hamraoui's phone was registered to former Barcelona star Eric Abidal.

He was Barcelona's sporting director from 2018 to 2020, during which time Hamraoui was with the women's team. 

Abidal's wife, Hayet, then issued a statement through her lawyers claiming her husband had admitted to an affair with Hamraoui and that divorce proceedings had been initiated.

French sports paper L'Equipe released details from the police on how the attack took place, detailing how Diallo drove Hamraoui to and from a team meal in a Toyota Corolla provided by the club, dropping off another player afterwards - Sakina Karchaoui - before the attack began in Chatou, Yvelines.

'My attacker hit me with an iron bar several times. I saw that he was mainly targeting my legs and I was trying to protect myself with my hands,' Hamraoui told police.

'At that time, I didn't see a weapon. They immediately start yelling: "Open the door! Open the door!" The one on my side grabbed me and pulled me out of the vehicle.

'Before, he grabbed a rectangular iron bar that he had hidden in his pants or under his sweater.

'He gave me a first blow from the first moments of the assault to force me out of the cabin. I fell on the road and then on the right side of the road.

'The scene lasted several minutes, it seemed long to me. Aminata told me it was faster. I think the two individuals fled because cars were coming into the street.

'They started running in the direction of the traffic. We quickly lost sight of them. I think a car should be waiting for them nearby.'

Hamraoui also referred to hearing the term 'you like to sleep with married men' during the assault, a detail confirmed by Diallo who was being 'detained' by the second stranger throughout the attack.

The news of Hamraoui's attack came before a match against Lyon. PSG's request for the game to be postponed was rejected. They were beaten 6-1.

A reconciliation meeting between Hamraoui and Diallo was held by PSG in December in which they agreed they would play together again, but tensions have remained high throughout the season. 

In April, a crisis meeting was held following a training ground spat between Hamraoui and Sandy Baltimore.

According to French outlet RMC Sport, there was an altercation after Hamraoui made 'negative remarks' towards Baltimore during a training drill, with both players having to be separated.

Hamraoui is said to have 'complicated relationships' with Baltimore, Marie-Antoinette Katoto and Kadidiatou Diani.

A report by The New York Times suggested that Hamraoui accused at least two other team-mates of involvement in her assault, and that she has a strong belief the answers to the case lie within PSG.

Hamraoui also reportedly angered Diani by mentioning her husband as a potential suspect.

Diani's husband has not been implicated or questioned by the police, but the PSG forward is said to have confronted Hamraoui about the accusation.

Diallo vehemently denied the allegation that she had anything to do with the attack, calling it a 'perfectly artificial dramatisation'.

This incident came before the second leg of PSG's Champions League semi-final with Lyon.

And now, for a third time, a crisis has hit the club before a crucial game with Lyon. 

Olle-Nicolle's suspension is temporary, but it means PSG will be without a manager for their final two games of the season.

The club said: 'Paris St-Germain is taking this situation seriously and intends to bring to light the reported events and remarks.'

Olle-Nicolle has not been available for comment.
