Nala takes her guard dog duties seriously: Send us your pet stories

BROOKLYN, Ohio -- My wife and I moved from Cincinnati to Brooklyn to be closer to home and continue teaching. We have a German shepherd who is our fur baby -- and now the stalwart protector of our newborn daughter.

Nala is 4 and has been with us since she was a few weeks old when we got her down in Cincinnati. She is our primary hiking buddy.

Our baby, Makayla, was born May 9, and it’s amazing to see how Nala took to looking after her immediately! When we brought Makayla home, Nala sat right in front of her car seat before we even got a chance to take her out of it.

Nala has always protected my wife, Adrienne, and me, and now has our daughter under her watch only five minutes in!

Nala is looking forward to walks, hiking and playing with her new bestie.
