Man Utd closing in on David De Gea contract extension until 2025 with goalkeeper in Erik ten Hag’s plans next season
MANCHESTER UNITED are reportedly close to officially pinning David De Gea down to a contract extension.
The 31-year-old goalkeeper has been a standout performer for the Red Devils in what has been a dismal season on and off the pitch.
And United are set to reward De Gea for his efforts with a new deal.
Player and club are now in the final stages of finalising fresh terms, according to journalist Ekrem Konur.
The new contract will reportedly run until 2025.
De Gea's current deal expires at the end of next season, although there is the option to extend for a further year.

At the moment he earns a whopping £350,000-a-week.
Pinning the Spaniard down to a new contract is a clear indicator that De Gea is part of new boss Erik ten Hag's plans going forward.
The Dutchman is expected to stamp his authority on proceedings at Old Trafford in a bid to turn the club's fortunes around.
And extending De Gea's time at the club until 2025, which would mark 14-years at the club, suggests Ten Hag sees him as his No1.

Despite being a shoo-in for United's player of the year award, De Gea has found himself dropped from national team duty.
He was omitted from Spain's squad for the friendlies against Albania and Iceland in June, with Unai Simon, Robert Sanchez and David Raya called up instead.
And it's the same story for next month's Nations League clashes.
Spain's Euro 2020 starter Simon, plus Premier League duo Sanchez and Raya are preferred in the squad to De Gea.
