Summer visits taking shape, including 4-star OT Olaus Alinen, who likes Ohio State football’s ‘great culture’: Buckeyes Recruiting Roundup

COLUMBUS, Ohio — The Ohio State football program has been busy this week, locking up numerous 2023 prospects for official visits.

One of the big names to declare an official visit was Olaus Alinen, a four-star offensive tackle out of Connecticut. Alinen included the Buckeyes in his top four, and they remain a top option heading into the summer.

“Our relationship is really good,” said Alinen when asked about his relationship with Ohio State offensive line coach Justin Frye. “I think we’ve built a really good relationship over the time he’s been at Ohio State. It’s easy for us to communicate, and we both have a lot of mutual respect for each other.”

This will not be the first time Alinen has visited Ohio State, as he took an unofficial visit in March.

“[Ohio State] really has a great culture,” stated Alinen. “They have great people in the building, and they are historically a great program. I definitely enjoyed my time at Ohio State.”

Other schools in the top four for Alinen were Alabama, Georgia and Miami.

“It’s the most proven program right now,” said Alinen when asked about his thoughts on Alabama. “Coach Saban has a great legacy of what he’s done with development and winning. There is not much to prove there.”

The Finland-born prospect will be hitting the road this June, as he will look to take official visits to all four schools.

Four-star linebacker Troy Bowles puts OSU in Top 8

The Buckeyes are still on the hunt for their first 2023 linebacker commit. However, the search may come to an end, as four-star Troy Bowles announced on Monday that Ohio State has made his top eight.

The Florida native has been on the Buckeyes’ radar for almost a year, since receiving an offer after attending the program’s camp last June 15. The Buckeyes will host Bowles on an official visit on June 24. He is also scheduled to visit Georgia and Oklahoma this summer, with Clemson, Alabama and Florida all in the running.

Currently, the Jesuit High School product has a crystal ball prediction to Georgia, according to 247 Sports.

2023 wide receiver Brandon Inniss is ranked as the nation's no. 1 receiver and has interest in Ohio State.
