My contact icons have disappeared from the home screen together with all the saved chrome webpages (moto g8 running Android 11 update) also chrome not opening properly ( have uninstalled and reinstalled still the same)...help please

This has been a problem I've seen over time here.
For contacts disappear from home screen I'm guessing u setup as Short cut maybe try 3rd party launcher like Nova see if still happening, on chrome short cuts to home page maybe try a different browser and use it's short cuts

Welcome to Android Central! Try also clearing the app cache and data for Chrome in Settings>Apps.
