The city of Kewanee is now offering push alerts, and residents can sign up for them on the city’s website.

At Monday’s City Council meeting, City Manager Gary Bradley said the electronic messages can inform residents about things like street closings, changes in the trash pickup schedule, weather emergencies and other matters related to city operations.

To sign up to receive the alerts, go to the city’s website at cityofkewanee.com.

On the home page, click on “Notices and Alerts” in the blue box. That will take you to a page with a link another page where you can sign up for text or email alerts.

Bradley pointed out that the push alerts are free of charge.
