Miguel Almirón nominated for Premier League Goal of the Season

Crystal Palace suffered it, Newcastle United enjoyed it

To the disgust of Jack Grealish, it looks like some Paraguayan lad got a saucy nomination for a Premier League award, something others cannot quite claim themselves... It happens, Jackie.

Do you know what is efficiency? Ask Miggy Almirón, who just got nominated for the Premier League Goal of the Season after scoring one and only one goal all year long. That’s noice. If you hit them, hit them where they ain’t, boys.

The volley pass, the soft head control, the left foot touch, the right-wing run, and the masterful finish capped with a bare-chest celebration. Ah, classic Miggy.

The Newcastle winger Miguel Almirón, whose lone goal on the season already won the Goal of the Month award for April, is one of the contenders for the actual Goal of the Season as announced by the Premier League earlier this week. Truth be told, and after Jurgen Klopp clearly robbed Eddie Howe of the Coach of the Season award, the PL better right their wrongs and give Miggy this one.

Almirón’s goal against Crystal Palace is facing strong competition, though, with the likes of Danny Ings (Aston Villa), Andros Townsend (Everton), Mohamed Salah (Liverpool), Rodri (Manchester City), Alexandre Lacazette (Arsenal), Mateo Kovacic (Chelsea), Wilfried Zaha (Crystal Palace), Cristiano Ronaldo (Manchester United), and Son Heung-Min (Tottenham) also in contention to raise the little-yet-meaningful trophy.

You can watch all the nominated goals and vote for Almirón’s banger here, with voting closing at 3 pm UK (10 am ET) on Friday, 27th May.

Howay Mirón!
