SOUTH BEND, Ind. (WNDU) -

While hot, it wasn’t record-setting hot today or tomorrow.  The record high on Monday is 94° and 96° on Tuesday.  Tuesday will be similar to Monday in that temperatures will top out right around 90 degrees.  The heat index may push into the middle 90s with a strong south wind keeping conditions feeling comfortable.  Rain chances will increase a little bit for the evening commute with the greatest threat of strong to severe weather coming after sunset (9pm).  Right now, the threat looks to be low for the area but we can’t rule out a few isolated severe thunderstorms.  A big shift in the temperature will come with the passing cold front.  Highs will come back to the middle 70s on Wednesday and average the middle to low 70s for the rest of the week.  The next decent rain chance won’t come back into the forecast until the end of the week.

TUESDAY: Hot, Muggy, and mostly sunny. Chance of showers and T-storms increases overnight as a cold front approaches Michiana. High: 91° Low: 66°. Wind: SW 10-25mph.

WEDNESDAY: Turning cooler as a cold front moves through during the morning hours. Few showers and T-storms are possible for the first half of the day. High: 74° Low: 50°. Wind: NW 5-15mph.

EXTENDED FORECAST: Expect highs for the first two weeks of June to be at or just slightly below average (70s for daytime highs and overnight lows in the 50s.) Rain chances will be very spotty as we turn the calendar over to June.
