It’s a new day, which means it’s time for another game of Heardle. If you can’t quite figure out today’s song, don’t worry. I’ll help you keep your streak alive with some clues and the answer.

But first, if you haven’t played Heardle for a few days, here are the songs you may have missed out on:

We get quite an eclectic mix of songs in Heardle, but if you don’t know it, you don’t know it. It’s a straight-up knowledge game, though we can make some educated guesses. If you need some clues for today’s Heardle, here you go:

  1. This is listed as a synth-rock/blues-rock/alternative rock song on Wikipedia. Hmmm.
  2. It was released in 1989.
  3. This reached number 28 on the U.S. Billboard Hot 100 and 13 in the U.K. singles chart.
  4. Johnny Cash covered this song on his 2002 album, American IV: The Man Comes Around.

Heardle Answer For May 26

Today’s Heardle answer is “Personal Jesus” by Depeche Mode.

A true ‘80s classic that has not only been covered by Cash, but a bunch of other artists, including Placebo and Garbage (let’s not mention that other guy).

It didn’t click for me at first. I didn’t recognize the opening harmonic notes. But as soon as I heard the “Reach out, touch faith” lyric, it was a cinch. If only the Heardle preview lasted a little longer and into the first verse, since the first line there has the name of the song in it. That would have made things a lot easier.
