For a long time, the Indiana Pacers seemed to be trying to fit a square peg in a round hole. In case you haven’t heard, that’s a logical impossibility. The fit between Domantas Sabonis and Myles Turner was always tenuous at best. In today’s NBA, both men are clearly most suited to the center position.
At this year’s trade deadline, they finally made their choice, sending Sabonis to the Sacramento Kings in return for Tyrese Haliburton.
It was a franchise-altering decision. If Haliburton’s play for the Pacers last season was any indication, it was a good one.
In another positive development, the Pacers landed the sixth overall pick in the 2022 NBA Draft. This rebuild is off to an excellent start. Could the Pacers push some chips in and fast-track it?
