That sound you hear is wedding bells finally ringing on Chicago Fire‘s Season 10 finale. But Severide and Stella didn’t make it down the aisle without some hiccups, and their honeymoon might not be so peaceful either.
Let’s start at the beginning: Severide is asked to testify before a grand jury against Campbell. When the firefighter shows up to give his testimony, he spots one of Campbell’s guys with a knife. The two get into a fight, during which Severide kicks him… out a window to his death. Severide is clearly shaken to have taken a man’s life, but everyone reassures him that it was self-defense. Having attacked a firefighter in front of witnesses, Campbell has now left the Windy City, the authorities tell Severide. So that’s good, right? Not so fast…
In the meantime, Severide and Stella are approaching their wedding day, with old friends Casey and Brett back in town for the nuptials. Best Man Casey kind of can’t believe that Severide is actually tying the knot. It’s been something watching Severide change since Stella came into his life and made him a better man, he tells his pal. Severide replies that the firehouse hasn’t been the same since he left — and it never will be. When the couple’s wedding venue is suddenly unavailable, Casey saves the day by finding a boat and a ship captain who can marry the pair. Severide also gets a sweet surprise moments before the wedding: a video call from his mom, who was planning to surprise him, but her plane got delayed. She’s now on board with the idea that at least one Severide man is the marrying kind.
Boden walks Stella down the aisle because he’s the closest thing she has to a father, she tells him. (Sniff!) Then the bride and groom exchange vows. “The simple truth is that you are magic to me. Whenever I’m at my lowest, you lift me up. You never leave my side,” Stella says.
“I decided a long time ago that if I was going to be with you, I needed to be worthy of you, which seemed impossible,” Severide declares. “You made sure that you really knew me, and by some miracle, you still love me. Stella, I might never be worthy of you, but I promise to spend the rest of my life trying.”
And with that, praise be, the commitment-phobes are finally hitched! As they arrive at Severide’s cabin for some private time, a mysterious truck shows up, and you just know that can’t be good.
Back at the wedding, Brett and Casey (sort of) face their uncertain future. He wishes she could have stayed with him in Portland forever. As she remarked to Violet, he’s where he’s meant to be, now a dad and fighting wildfires. But Brett’s back in Chicago for good; it’s where her life is. “How much longer can we keep this up with so much time apart?” Brett wonders, to which Casey replies, “I don’t know. But we’re together tonight.”
Elsewhere, the war against Emma rages on. Hawkins is at his wit’s end, so he goes to the higher ups and offers to take the hit. Meanwhile, Violet tells Emma that she’s deranged if she doesn’t realize that all of 51 will come after her if she takes Violet’s spot. Emma recalls something her army dad said about it not mattering if the guy next to you likes you or not. When you go into battle, you become family. However, for that to happen, you actually have to stay in the battle, which Emma does not do. She bolts during a rescue call, abandoning Violet and a woman in labor as flames surround them. Now that the rest of the firehouse has seen Emma for who she really is, Hawkins is done kowtowing to her threats and orders Emma to clean out her locker.
While Emma is defeated, the battle may have done some unrepairable damage to Violet and Hawkins’ relationship. First, she ignores his call, then she confides in Ritter that she wishes he had done more to help. We’re guessing the lingering look between Violet and Gallo also has something to do with her sudden feelings that dating her boss was a mistake.
Finally, in a sweet, little moment, Casey gives Gallo his favorite axe. He’s happy that Gallo is sticking with truck because if he can’t be there, then he’s glad that 51 is in hands he trusts. Then he tells Gallo that he’s now part of the old guard.
Chicago Fire fans, what did you think of the season ender? Grade it below, then hit the comments!
It could have been a perfect episode if only we got some happy Brettsey. After just five episodes together and Jesse leaving many looked forward to this episode but we could not even get some happiness with Casey and Brett. Now I will be wondering all summer if they are still together or broke up. It is such a waste of three years if they cop out and Casey and Brett break up when many couples do survive long distance. Honestly Casey’s story will always feel incomplete to me if he is not chief of 51 and have a family with the woman he loves. While he is doing a great thing fostering the Darden boys, that will be over in a few years. He will still miss out on having a family of his own also Brett deserves more too. Both characters deserve a love of a lifetime and it sucks that they can not be happy.
I 100% Agree with you! After all these years of making there relationship I hate to see it end. They both deserve happiness with each other even if it is long distance. Hopefully they keep it going because they are beautiful together and it keeps Casey involved in the 51 fam, even if he is not around all the time!!
Casey, needs to come back!!! It’s not the same!!!
I fully expected Brett and Casey to break up, but I am happy that they didn’t. At least I hope so.
Brett made it pretty clear that her life, career and family (51) were in Chicago not in Portland.
Hope Sevride & Stella get out of cabin alive. Hope those men get caught or knock out and tied up until police arrives.
I want Gabby and Casey together. Till the end. They both started together at the beginning.
Oh no Gabby was the worse person for Casey. She was selfish, narcissistic, self centered and never respected or cared for his opinion. She even said so on the last episode, that she cares for his opinion but can’t rely on it. What, Casey was the most reliable dependable person who would have laid down his life for her. But unfortunately she never cared for him enough to put his needs first. All anyone has to do is go back in the episodes and see how she treated him, it was horrible to watch.
Ugh they are really going to put Violet with the pathetic child Gallo. Do we really need every at Firehouse 51 dating each other?
I know, I loved her with Hawkins to be honest.
Me too. Maybe it will work out. It seems Violet is wanting it to end. But Gallo isn’t the right choice for her. Best friend? Yes.
I think she is great with Hawkins! I hope she finds out that he offered to take the hit for her so she can see that he was trying. I don’t know why she didn’t think that to begin with. Gallo is fine as a friend. I figured they are end game, but I was hoping we could enjoy Hawkins for a while longer.
I agree. And he is definitely an immature man child. I hate that Violet didn’t find out that hawkins offered to give up his job or transfer, whatever it took to protect her. I hope that comes out next season and they stop pairing up everyone in the fire hall. It’s completely unrealistic.
Yeah, I hate triangles were people a switching back or forth. You make a decision. I also thought it unfair of her, that he somehow didn’t do enough.
100% agree and feel Violet is being unfair to Hawkins.
After all that was promised from the showrunners this finale fell flat for me and it was kind of a letdown. I’m still confused on why Severide ran after that guy. There were no big fires or rescues. The Emma storyline ending was anticlimactic, she basically left with her tale between her legs. I was hoping she was going to go full on psycho, maybe burn down a building or hold someone hostage but she just left. The wedding which was promoted was only less than 10 minutes of airtime. Chicago Fire has had great season finales, unfortunately this was not one of them.
The preview description for the episode said her story comes to a “shocking” end, and I was really hoping to see her get electrocuted., so it was kind of a letdown.
Yes. That would have been a shocking end. Slinking off to go cause chaos elsewhere definitely wasn’t.
finale was good but Emma’s was weak. I thought she would do something crazy at the wedding or to violet. I knew Campbell wasn’t done with severide. Loved the wedding and I loved tuesday being the flower girl. She will be missed on fire. May that beautiful doggy RIP
I liked this finale a lot, it had everything in it. I did think the Med and PD finales were better but I still liked Fire. I liked the two cliffhangers the first one Violet not answering Hawkins phone call. I’m thinking the Emma stuff will continue into next season. Also, Kelly and Stella’s honeymoon having a stalker. It’s some stuff to look forward to next season.
Would be something if Emma was in that pickup truck that followed Severide and Stella to their cabin
I agree the finale was good but I thought it was a good thing that Emma didn’t do anything that way it can bleed into next season. They should stretch the Emma story into the fall over a sling of episodes. I want Emma to stalk Violet and Hawkins and then get vengeful, have that lead all the way into the fall finale.
I hated the Emma character, her entire blackmailing self irritated me and ruined a good program. I hope its found that she was one of the instigators in the different attacks on Firehouse 51 and responsible for the shootings. I hope she is also put in jail if she doesn’t die as an instigator for life. She should have been fired when they found out she lied about where she went to school.
I really loved this episode. the wedding and pre-wedding scenes were very real and genuine with the chaos and interactions, it felt like a family member’s wedding! emma’s story could’ve ended better but overall it was a good episode. can’t wait to see where severide’sstory is going next season!
I thought the showw as excellentOme can see there will be more of these stories coming next season. I hope to see Gallo continue working towards being on squad .
Was glad to see Emma show her true colors but do wonder if we have seen the last of her. I do like Violet with Hawkins so hope that storyline continues – Gallo still has some growing up to do! It is obvious still Stella and Keely have trouble ahead. Am still very disappointed that Jesse Spencer left the show – Matt and Sylvie can continue long distance – seems like a waste of a three year build up!
I’m glad to see signs the Matt and Sylvie relationship is not going to survive.
Someone needs to tell me why was Bolden not involved at all with the Emma’s plot…I get Evan is the paramedic chief….but come one when was the 51 boss not involved in protecting his people….what a big set up to such a small and pathetic end, if you gonna do crazy, F* do crazy let her try to set 51 house literally on fire, for her to go just because se was fired is lazy….bit lazy is Chicago fire way of doing things lately…. What a shame was a fun soap opera, now is weird sopa opera full of plot holes, ooc actions , big promises on interviews that are never delivered on screen
I agree. When Gallo went to talk to the former chief of Emma and he wouldn’t release any information, Gallo could have gone to Boden to reach out to him. That whole storyline was stupid and poorly done.
At least someone got married in a season finale. Looking at you, New Amsterdam.
Would be nice the original Chicago Fire
character get back. Gabby and Casey, should get back, they both really love each other till the end.
Ask yourself if you believe that Gabby and Casey really loved each other then why did she leave? She was such a narcissist that all she ever cared about was herself. She left him devastated and cared less. He was devastated at Mouch’s wedding we he said we should get married and her response was no I’m happy the way I am and he said but don’t you want more and sad he said no, again only thinking about her needs and wants.
Great finale !! Emma got what she deserved, conniving little witch !!! Just hope nothing terrible happens to Severide. Looking forward to next season.😊
I wish Brett and Matt would have survived and
Why. That was a sweet romancsanted to see it last.
I have watched Chicago Fire from the beginning. I followed Kelly Severide through all his exploitations!! Love the show and hope to see many more seasons. Firehouse 51 You Rock!!
I don’t know if that is a stalker in the car outside the cabin. Could it be the police since Kelly was told a police officer is not gonna let him out of their site.
I don’t think so. I think it’s the drug dealer Campbell. He was inside a Dodge Ram when Kelly got jumped. I’m thinking it’s him trying to get payback
I hope Hawkins and violet stay together. To many couples in the firehouse 51 it’s kind of ridiculous and boring.
Severide kicks a guy though a window, shakes it off to marry the love of his life. 15/10. You’re next, Emma!
I knew the cliffhanger was gonna be something since the keys were left in the door and the padlock was hanging there unlocked.
I could just see someone locking them in the cabin, then they showed the truck
I thought the show was pretty decent. Loved seeing Jesse. spencer back even if for just one episode. Am I the only one who does not like Gallo? There’s something about him I just don’t trust, he strikes me as a sneak.
RIP Tuesday .
Absolutely loved the finale. The Stellaride wedding was the end game and I’m glad for once Kelly and Stella got to finally be together permanently. I’m glad the Emma storyline is over however I wouldn’t call it a shocker by no means. Such a diabolical person should have had something a lot more dramatic. Not sorry the Brettsey relationship came to an end. It was poorly conceived and should never have happened since they knew Jesse Spencer was leaving the show. If he had stayed absolutely it would have been great but having Brett constantly doing nothing but missing Casey, wanting to see Casey was a waste of her talent. As far as Gallo goes he has grown quite a bit and is maturing into the man he is supposed to be. I never thought Hawkins and Violet were a good idea anyway so not sad if their relationship comes to an end.
It was a beautiful wedding.
But i am still not on the stellaride train, i honestly can’t feel their chemistry.
And please let Violet stay with Hawkins!
She doesn’t deserve to be with Gallo.
I had a feeling the break-up between Matt and Brett came.
And i am really hoping Matt returns in 2/3 years (if the show gets to live that long)
They deserve to be happy together, and also apart, but mostly together.
R.I.P Tuesday the dog.
Unfortunately I think Casey returning is wishful thinking. He said he was tired of doing this for 18 yrs but he did take an acting job doing a race for space, a ten episode on Disney+ filmed in his native Australia. With Kidds promotion there really isn’t a place for Casey to come back too. And it wouldn’t make sense to give him a promotion to battalion chief when there is already a deputy district chief in house. We are all sad to see him leave but stars often leave series when they feel there is no more story to tell for them. Severide has many opportunities to stretch his wings and do lots of things within 51. He is into arson cases, rescues, and fire fighting. Given him a chance do something more challenging and diverse compare me to the job Casey had which was strictly Fire fighting. I’m sad that you can’t get into the chemistry that they so obviously share. If you look at him he’s the happiest he’s ever been. Taylor even says that they have amazing chemistry. I always say if Miranda and Taylor look at their significant real life partners the way they look at each other on the show everyone will be extremely happy
Casey been on Chicago Fire since 2012. That makes 10 years. Not 18.
They mean Jesse Spencer has been in tv for 18 years. 8 years on house and then 10 on Chicago fire. He did house and right after that ended he joined Chicago fire. No break really
I found the whole narration thing a major distraction and very irritating on ALL three of the Chicago shows Wednesday night. Most all of the narration was a stating of the “obvious”! Totally distracting and unnecessary .. did not add anything to the production! I can watch marathon reruns of old episodes … but this was pathetic… almost turned it OFF, however b/c it was season finals.. I barely hung in there. PLEASE .. PLEASE.. Never again!!!!!!
Soinds like you accidentally had Audio Description turned on.
Please keep Severide and Stella on the Chicago Fire always take the go one off the all the time I hope they get out of the cabin safe. Now they in danger need to take that part out. Both deserve to be happy with each other. I just love both of they.
Completely disgusted with Casey story. Know he leftf but they blew that romance, could have been a sweet story, dragged out to keep fans.blew it.
He was on House for 8 years and Chicago Fire for 10 years, that’s where the 18 years comes from. So he has been doing television for a solid 18 years. Unfortunately I think he just got tired of playing Casey and wanted to move on and do something else. Henceforth the new acting job just months after leaving fire.
I thought the show was excellent, I think what is going to happen the intruders are going to padlock the door and dose the cabin with gasoline and set it on fire.
It was so good to see a happy ending
