Police investigate shooting on Dixwell Avenue in New Haven

NEW HAVEN, Conn. (WTNH) – Police are investigating after a man was shot on Dixwell Avenue in New Haven Wednesday night.

Around 8:30 p.m., police received a ShotSpotter alert for gunfire and 911 calls regarding a person shot on Dixwell Avenue between Willis Street and Bassett Street.

Officers found a 40-year-old New Haven man who had been struck by gunfire, according to police. He was taken to the hospital where he was treated for non-life-threatening injuries.

The Bureau of Identification responded to the scene and collected ballistic evidence, police said. Detectives from the Major Crimes Unit are leading the investigation.
