Authorities continue to investigate an apparent murder-suicide that took place at a St. Peters hospital over the weekend.
The shooting took place just before 11 a.m. on Sunday, May 22 at Barnes Jewish St. Peters Hospital.
St. Peters Police say John Robey, 94, shot his wife, Anna M. Bode, 93, both of St. Charles, in her hospital room before turning the gun on himself. Bode had been in the hospital for several days receiving treatment for an undisclosed illness, according to police.
Bode was pronounced dead at the scene. Robey survived the gunshot wound and was taken to another area hospital in critical condition. He succumbed to his injuries on Monday, May 23.
Police said no other lives were threatened before, during, or after the shooting, and there is no indication anyone else was in the hospital room at the time of the shooting.
