More than 60 friends and family members, and at least a half dozen pastors, gathered Wednesday night to pray for the safe return of a Brighton man missing for more than two months.
Yendor Andrews, also known as Rodney Andrews, was last seen March 15 at his Brighton home. The 60-year-old man has not been seen nor heard from since then and his family says they’re baffled by his disappearance.
“When you see this on television, a family member missing, you don’t know the gut feeling until it’s your family,’’ said his brother, Richard Andrews Jr. “You’re alright one day, next day not alright.”
Wednesday night’s prayer vigil was held at the Brighton Community Center Pavilion. Brighton Mayor Eddie Cooper and Police Chief Larry Woods were among the dozens in attendance.
Richard Andrews III, Yendor Andrews’ nephew, said they have actively searched for their loved one with no success. There have been no texts or phone calls. Checks of area hospitals and jails have turned up nothing.
‘’We’re trying to shake up information of any sort,’’ he said. “We’ve never had a situation where we’ve gone months or weeks without talking to him.”
The Jefferson County sheriff’s office said all of his vehicles are accounted for.
Richard Andrews III describes his uncle as the “light of the day.”
“There’s not a stranger he’s ever met,’’ he said. “Very friendly, very loving person.”
“We miss him,’’ he said. “Hopefully we can get him back safe and sound.”
Yendor Andrews is 5-feet, 11-inches tall and weighs 189 pounds. Anyone with information on his whereabouts is asked to call the Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office at 205-325-1450.
