Terry Stotts has emerged as one of the frontrunners to land the head coach vacancy for the Los Angeles Lakers. Should he get the nod, one of the biggest issues he will have to face will come in the form of none other than Russell Westbrook. The former league MVP had a forgettable first season with the Lakers this past year but apparently, Stotts believes that he can turn it around for Russ in LA.

According to Mark Medina of NBA.com, Stotts is interested in the prospect of coaching Westbrook. Moreover, the former Portland Trail Blazers head coach thinks that he can find a way to bring out the best in Russ with the Lakers:

Terry Stotts is intrigued with potentially coaching Russell Westbrook and believes he can help him be more effective and comfortable with his role than he was last season.

Lakers fans everywhere will probably have mixed feelings about this. After crucifying Westbrook and his poor play for pretty much the entire season, most supporters would probably prefer to see him out the door. Others, however, are more forgiving and are willing to give the nine-time All-Star another shot.

Terry Stotts appears to be on team Westbrook and it sounds like he's going to do everything he can to help Russ find his old form. That is, of course, if Stotts actually lands the coaching gig for the Lakers.
