Rain continues overnight; the sun makes an appearance Thursday

A steady, soaking rain continues to drop on southeast Nebraska Thursday evening.  Two-day rain totals range from a half inch of rain in Kearney to around 2″ of rain in Beatrice.  If you recently planted grass in your lawn, you are happy!  I also suspect with warmer temperatures arriving for the weekend, grass will shoot up quickly!

Rain is going to continue overnight in to Thursday morning.  A narrow corridor of rain is expected to develop along a rough line from Omaha – Lincoln – Beatrice – Fairbury for the morning commute.  Rain along the corridor will start to weaken through the morning, and I think most of the rain should be over by 11 a.m.

By the time it is over, an additional quarter inch to one inch of rain is possible Wednesday evening through noon Thursday.

Clouds will start to pull out of southeast Nebraska – from west to east – Thursday morning.  Expect to see brightening skies in the Lincoln area by early afternoon.  Skies should be clear for most areas by late afternoon, bringing sunshine back!

The addition of sunshine to the mix should send temperatures back to the upper 60°s to middle 70°s.  Higher temperatures will be west, where the sun comes out sooner.
